Bevo Boys Fitness Academy primarily serves youth aged 8 to 17 who are susceptible to violence and juvenile delinquency. The academy offers a unique blend of boxing training and character development, aiming to steer young individuals away from negative influences and towards a path of empowerment and success. The Academy's programs focus on teaching basic boxing fundamentals. While no special equipment is needed, workouts incorporate shadow boxing, jumping, and punching drills.
Training Programs and Classes
The academy offers comprehensive training programs designed to cater to boxers of all skill levels, from beginners to amateur and professional athletes. All programs include a focus on empowerment, self-motivation, and self-control. Classes are available Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration is required to participate.
Beginner Training: Focuses on the foundational elements of boxing, including footwork, defense, basic skills, combinations, and drills. This introductory program aims to build a solid understanding of boxing fundamentals while instilling discipline and self-confidence.
Amateur Training: Designed to enhance endurance, speed, power, and autonomy. Participants in this program will refine their boxing skills and develop the physical and mental fortitude required to compete at a higher level.
In addition to boxing training, Bevo Boys Fitness Academy provides mentoring, after-school programs, and therapeutic group support. These supplementary programs are designed to foster resilience, promote positive behaviors, and equip young individuals with the tools they need to overcome challenges and succeed in life.
Coaches and Staff
The driving force behind Bevo Boys Fitness Academy is Coach Kenny, a former competitive boxer with an impressive track record. His accomplishments include two Junior Olympic silver medals, five City Golden Glove titles, and two National Tournament championships. He also received a national invitation to try out for the 1988 USA Olympic boxing team. Coach Kenny's extensive experience and passion for boxing make him an exceptional mentor and role model for the youth he serves.
LeaRaya Cole serves as the Founder and Executive Director of Bevo Boys Fitness Academy. With over 25 years of management experience, she oversees the academy's operations and ensures that it remains true to its mission of empowering at-risk youth. LeaRaya's leadership and dedication are instrumental in the academy's success.
